Hello, my name is Mrs. Prato.  I am a special education teacher at Fairview Elementary School.  I am proud to be a Fairview Falcon and member of the faculty in District 57.   Welcome to my page!! 

   Fairview School has been my teaching 'home' for the past nine years.  Throughout those nine years,  I have worked with an outstanding and committed staff, as well as a very caring community of families and students.  My role as a special educator has been to assist students with core curriculum-- reading, math and writing, while continuing to learn and incorporate best instructional practices into my teaching.   

  This year, my service, both supportive and instructional, has taken me back into the general education classroom, assisting my students in the least restrictive environment whenever possible.  What a privilege it has been to be a part of the support and instruction in their classroom environments... collaborating with their teachers and generating fresh perspectives in learning. 

   In addition to this opportunity of returning to the general education classroom for a portion of the day,  I do continue to maintain small group instruction in my own classroom,  providing a 'balance'  of services for those students that benefit from this type of environment and support.

   So as my instructional practice has taken me in new directions, my teaching 'home' remains the same-- with the Fairview family of students and staff.
