| “Good morning, Fairview School.” Sound familiar? I’m one of the voices at the other end of the phone when you call Fairview School. My name is Carolyn Young and I am the secretary at Fairview. I started in the office August 1998...can’t believe it has been that long…time flies when you are surrounded by wonderful people. I live in the community and both of my children attended Fairview School. My son, Kevin, is now a sophomore at Illinois State University; my daughter, Lauren, is a freshman attending ISU as well.
I actually started working at Fairview in 1995. My daughter, Lauren, was in 1st grade and was having a difficult transition to being in school all day, including eating lunch in the cafeteria. I was fortunate enough that I was hired as a lunchroom supervisor, which provided her some comfort and got her through this “trauma.” I also volunteered in the office, prior to being hired to actually work in the office. I was hired in August 1998 as the clerical assistant, and when the former secretary retired I assumed the role of secretary. I am truly blessed to come to work everyday and interact with the wonderful families and staff members of Fairview School. I also probably have the shortest commute of any staff member…I only live a block and a half down the street!
